PLARN- Plastic Yarn!

I have figured out what to do with the collection of plastic grocery bags in the clost. I have an obnoxious amount of these bags form Daves Marketplace and want to turn them into something useful instead of them stockpiling as usual, or throwing them in the trash. I did some research and figured out that you can flatten them out nicelly and cut off the tops and bottoms (handles and closed end). That leaves you with the round body of the bag. You cut those into strips (which are loops , connected at each end still). Doing a simple slip knot, you can boyscout your way into a chain of these plastic loops and there you have it, a chain of plastic to roll up! Now what do you think I am going to do with all of these recycled/ repurposed bags? Crochet a new bag of course!

Apple Candle Holder

I was on Pinterest and stumbled upon this genius craft/ home decor idea for autumn! Apple candle holders! Such an easy thing to make and a great use of the apples I have rotting because Timmy has over done himself on them for a while. All you do it carve a hole out of the top of an apple and pop in a tea light! That's it! Enjoy the smell!

They Love their Chickie Blocks!

Chickie Block

My niece Sophia asked me if I could make her a chick. She wanted a stuffed animal. So of course I said yes to her! After thinking and testing out different materials and patterns on what would be best, I made Block Chicks! And instead of boring plain yellow, I used patterned fabric and it turned out adorable, So adorable that I made one for her sister Sarah as well! I hope they Love them!

Eggshell Planters

My friend and I were talking about crafts today that would be fun to do with our kids (not the baby of course!). We wanted the craft to be a gardening project, so a great idea is Eggshell Planters! I have found a website that explains how to make these and they aren't difficult at all! I have learned from this website that the calcium from the egg shell is great nutrients for the soil as well as being a cute looking project!http://www.kidzworld.com/article/26761-how-to-make-eggshell-planters
Follow the link for more specific instructions, but all you do is cut the top off the egg and drain to have a hollow shell as pictured. Place a cotton ball at the bottom of the hollow egg to help with draining. Fill with soil, plant your seed, and grow! I would also find it fun to decorate these eggshells to add a bit more of your creativity to the whole project. Enjoy!

Grouting

I just began grouting my mosaic piece I made last night. Grouting is not one of my favorite things to do, however it is very pretty as an end result!

Sun catchers!

Timmy and I are making sun catchers! I just got the idea off of some ones twitter post. They used beans and painted them, but had the same glue idea. We used a baby food cover, and filled it with glue. Then we sprinkled in tiny beads. They are now drying by the open windows. The glue will dry clear and these should look great! Timmy and I can't wait to see our finished art!
